COVID-19 PE Work Outs BGE & Senior
Hello everyone
Every week we will be uploading new challenges and work outs to do for you all make sure you check them out!
During June we will be putting up 3 new challenges every week which have an Athletics theme to it, we would like you to attempt to complete the challenge, and try get the best score possible.
Attached below are a number of documents we have made for all our pupils in PE!
The Physical Education at Home has a set of weekly challenges that you should give a go. Each week has a new challenge, which focuses on a different part of the body. Keep your scores and even have a competition with friends and family.
The S&C WODs are best suited for our senior pupils, Mr Murray will be working through these, keep a log of your reps and times!
The HWB has a grid of exercises that you can complete whilst you’re off, look to try and complete as many of these as you can!
The HITT Home document is a breakdown of training zone colours, this should give you a bit more information on what you should be looking for when training. Mr Rizza has also included a number of the sessions that he has completed so far. Mr Rizza and Mr Murray are going to post their daily work outs on the school website. Let’s see if you can keep up!
Mr Murray has posted another work out for you titled 30s. Have a look at that and see if you can complete that. The instructions are on the document, this has to be done outside, all you need is a 30 yard distance!
Make sure you are keeping active and looking after yourself! Let the challenges commence!
Thanks
PE Department

Here are a few of the pictures they got on their trip!
Max’s Barcelona Success
Max Mackay’s football team (Currie Star) were invited to a football tournament in Barcelona. He was off Friday and today. The tournament was for 16 international teams. While over there the team came first in their group (of 8) and played in the final. Unfortunately they were beaten in the final by a team from Brazil who had four 15 year olds playing for them. It is a brilliant achievement for the team and for him personally. Well done Max!

THE FUN RUN
As part of the CSLA and SCQF level 6 Sports leadership course, the sports leaders we organised this whole school event. On Friday 11th of March, the whole school came together to participate in the 2016 Fun Run around The Meadows. On behalf of the Sports Leadership team, we would like to thank everybody who participated for all their effort, it was greatly appreciated as staff and pupils together helped to make the day a huge success.
As you are all aware last year was an incredibly difficult one for the school as Cameron and Ellie Armstrong both, sadly passed away. The theme of ‘sports and sparkles’ represented the personalities of both Cameron and Ellie respectively. We would also like to thank everyone for dressing up and supporting the theme on the day. All pupils have been given a school Invictus Maneo t-shirt we would encourage our peers to wear these to Physical Education class’s extra-curricular clubs and sports events.
The money raised will go towards the Ellie and Cameron Armstrong Athlete Support Fund (ECAAS Fund) which is a fund set up within the school to allow high level regional/national athletes to receive financial support for any training fees, transport and or attending competitions. More details and the application forms are on the school website or pupils can get a hard copy from Mr Rizza Curricular Leader of Physical Education.
Thank you again for all your hard work and support shown throughout.

The PE Department and Miss Cairns from Maths attended the Olympic and Paralympic ‘Celebrate the Great’ Event yesterday at Festival Square. The fourth year pupils were a great testament to our school and we were even given a shout out by the opening speaker Steve Cardownie, Deputy Lord Provost who is the father of S1 pupil Callum.
You may have recognised a few faces on Reporting Scotland at 6.30pm last night which included an interview with Sarah Thomson and Khena Dungu.
Well done to our Girls football team who took part in the Girls Football Festival at Forrester High School last month. The girls performed brilliantly well, managing to finish 2nd overall. The girls looked very professional in their new pink school strips. Watch out Barca!
