St Thomas of Aquin’s RC High School is a denominational secondary school which serves the area of southeast Edinburgh. It draws most of its pupils from Holy Cross, St Mark’s, St Mary’s and St Peter’s RC primary schools. The wide catchment area stretches from the Pentlands to Granton. This varied social mix gives St Thomas’ a strongly comprehensive character.

Admissions information
Transfer arrangements from P7 are arranged by Pupil Placement at the City of Edinburgh Council. Pupil placement staff compile a list of new S1 pupils and also produce a waiting list, based on Council criteria. The school has no role in the compilation of these lists.
- Our numbers in S1 and S2 have been restricted to 140 per year.
- In November, the City will issue Information booklets and letters to P7 pupils advising them of the catchment high school serving their home address and of their right to make a placing request. Primary Schools will be notified of the catchment high schools for all their P7 pupils
Non-Catchment Requests
If you do not live within the St. Thomas’ catchment area, you will be required to apply for a placing request. Applications are processed initially through City of Edinburgh council Placing requests are only considered after all catchment pupils have been allocated a place Once the school year has started in August, the waiting lists are transferred to St. Thomas’ and we can allocate any remaining places.Useful Links
