P7 into S1 Transition Information
A welcome message from Mme Jean Pierre (Depute Head Teacher)
Dear Parent/ Carer,
The move from Primary to Secondary school is an important and exciting one and I would like to reassure you that arrangements for your child’s transition to St Thomas’ have been under way for a few months.
We are continuing to liaise regularly with our Primary School colleagues and other partners to ensure that we have all the relevant information to enable your son/ daughter to have a successful transition to us and to make the best possible start at High School in August.
This involves visits from our staff to the Primary Schools within the Learning Community, conversations as well as planning meetings with your child’s P7 teacher and participation in Young Persons’ Planning Meetings whenever required.
Additional information will be available in due time regarding the arrangements for the transition and enhanced transition programmes.
The provisional Transition days agreed by City of Edinburgh Council for the 3 day transition programme are:
Tuesday 16 June 2026 9.00 am to 3.10pm
Wednesday 17 June 2026 8.40 am to 3.10 pm
Thursday 18 June 2026 8.40 am to 3.10 pm
St Thomas Enhanced Transition visit (Pupils with English as an additional Language – all schools):
ASN – 4 Sessions – 7th, 14,th 21st, 28th May (2:00 – 3:15pm)
Culture Event– 1 Session – 29th May (09:30am – 12:00pm)
Non-Associated Primary Schools – 1 Session (choice of 21st, 28th April or 12th May (2:00 – 3:15pm)
St Thomas Parents’ Information Evening:
Thursday 18 June 2026 ( 5pm to 7pm)
We are looking forward to meeting with our new S1 pupils and yourselves over the next few weeks.
