The club will be meeting on Thursdays and Fridays after school for at least an hour but most days there will be and option of more time if needed.
For now we are opening the club to S4-S6 pupils who have taken Graphic Communication, Design and Manufacture or Art and Design. We hope to open it up to more pupils next year.
Creative Technology Club has formed for pupils who are interested in learning about and using the Laser Cutter and 3D Printer, as well as a range of other skills.
We plan to help pupils design and make items for their own use as well as deigning and making items to sell at school events to raise funds to buy new equipment for the department.
A product can be designed using 3D modelling software, DTP Software or drawn by hand.
So far, we have:
- 3D printed parts for a costume for Halloween
- Engraved a sheet placemat for a gift
- Engraved and cut wood for an inspirational quote.
At the moment, we are focussing on Christmas gifts. We are designing and making Laser cut Christmas cards in wood and upcycled card, Tea light holders, Slate food platters and Tree decorations.
These items will be available for sale at the Careers Event on the 23rd November and the Christmas Fair on the 7th December.
